To avoid any Swine Flu problems at Wente a H1N1 plan has been developed by the Council Health & Safety committee. For further details check with your Troop contact person, they should have received a call and/or email with more information. Before coming to camp, check your Scouts for a temperature of over 100 degrees. If they have one, do not bring them. We will also be doing our own screening at camp. Because of this, we will not be allowing anyone to arrive before noon on Sunday mornings. We have had no incidents of Swine Flu, and we intend to keep it that way.
For more information visit the SFBAC home page.
Since the time the Leaders Guide was published we have found out that we will have the ability to add the Chemistry Merit Badge. It will be offered from 3:30 to 5:00 on the terrace, and will have an age limit of 14 and older due to the handling of potentially hazardous chemicals (the fun ones). Older Scouts are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity, for we have a councilor who knows what he is doing and how to make it real fun.
When you or your Scouts are signing up for badges, some of them can be a bit confusing. The one getting most people is Pottery. The Thursday night session is part of the day time session, you have to go to both.
Adult leaders don't forget to sign your Troop up for the Merit Badges they want to take. The best way to do it is to find out what your Scouts want to take, put the information in a spreadsheet with times going across and names going down, and email it to meritbadge@wente.org. Send your whole Troop's information in together a week or two before arriving at camp. For more information go to the Program Areas page.
